The Hermitage Hotel in Jakarta is located in the Menteng district, the residence of international embassies, high-ranking international guests and distinguished locals. As you move closer into the depths of Menteng, the noise and hustle of the city alleviates as the streets give way to a feeling of ease and eventually arrive at the Hermitage. The atmosphere allows you to let go of the bustling city life of Jakarta from the moment you arrive.

Inside, a relaxed environment awaits. But that doesn’t mean to say this hotel is by any means, casual. Originally built in 1920’s Art Deco style, the building was fully refurbished in 2015, retaining decadent old-world charm on the outside and boasting relaxed grandeur inside. Patterned marble floors run throughout, with artifacts and artwork seamlessly blending into the surroundings, making everything seem perfectly placed.

From the time we stepped out of the vehicle on arrival, the welcome from staff, the check-in, the (literally) sparkling room, the superbly presented buffet breakfast, the delectable restaurant dinners, the infinity pool, the gym, the rooftop at sunset, all surpassed our expectation.

The Hermitage is definitely a destination hotel; one of those places you would travel to, just for the stay. Everything was above and beyond a 5 star rating. It should go without saying that, if you are planning a trip to Jakarta, don’t think twice about accommodation if considering The Hermitage.
